Luis was born in Bogota, Colombia where he lived for 6 years before Houston, Texas became his home. He Received his Bachelor of Architecture at Rice University and worked at Kohn Pederson Fox Associates in New York for his preceptorship year, where he gained experience designing “supertall” commercial and residential developments in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong. Upon graduation in 2013, Luis realized that single-family residential design was something he saw as more tangible and personal. He worked at two luxury, award-winning firms, Jay Baker Architects and Cusimano Architect over the next 10 years, where he found a passion for working directly with families to help them navigate the process of building their dream homes. Luis collaborated with top-tier architects, interior designers, and builders all around Texas during that time. As project architect for several award-winning homes, his primary role aside from leading the design team was to fill a communication gap between the design and the construction phase of homes that typically goes unfilled in a lot of “custom home” construction that people experience. Wanting to make his own mark on the residential landscape while focusing on improving the client experience, Luis launched Salcedo Architect.
